The Confederation takes another concrete step in building its environmental intervention network.
CNU Disaster Manager Luca Alessi will meet with the Head of Training of VAB (Italian Civil Protection Forest Environmental Guard) and the team of volunteers who will establish the National Coordination Center dedicated to managing reports coming from the Environmental Sentinels.
This meeting will define the operational framework of the joint protocol between CNU and VAB, designed to integrate technical and civic skills into a single territorial monitoring network. The system will enable real-time reception and dispatch of reports sent by CNU Environmental Sentinels, ensuring rapid response in cases of environmental emergencies or actions harmful to the natural heritage.
The project—strongly supported by the Secretary-General of the CNU and the National President of VAB—fits within the broader confederal mission of protecting human and environmental rights, representing a synergy between education, prevention, and direct field action.
Immediately after the meeting on October 13, a series of training webinars open to the general public will be scheduled for those who wish to become CNU-VAB Environmental Sentinels—a form of active citizenship recognized for its role in observing, reporting, and ethically defending the environment.
In the following days, the Confederation will issue official communications to all territorial and institutional bodies, informing them of the start of operations and the methods of collaboration planned within the CNU-VAB interinstitutional cooperation framework.
This new operational step reaffirms the Confederation’s commitment to working in synergy with national and local entities, transforming environmental protection into a shared exercise of human responsibility and civic solidarity.
