CNU Confers a Symbolic Humanitarian Recognition on Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
Prato, 12 December 2025 – Protocol No. ITA202512121754
On today’s date, the Confederation of Humanitarian Nations (CNU) adopted a Decree of the Secretary-General Harry Tallarita conferring upon Narges Mohammadi, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, the CNU Humanitarian Honor – Paladin of Peace, on an exclusively symbolic and moral basis.
The measure follows publicly reported information concerning the detention in Iran of the human rights defender, internationally recognized for her non-violent commitment to the protection of human dignity, freedom of conscience, and fundamental rights.
Through this act, the Confederation of Humanitarian Nations expresses an ethical and humanitarian position, in accordance with its mandate and with the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights Defenders (UN General Assembly Resolution 53/144 of 1999).
The recognition conferred by the CNU:
-
has no legal, diplomatic, or patrimonial nature;
-
produces no legal effects;
-
constitutes a public act of testimony, moral solidarity, and international attention.
The CNU Secretariat General emphasizes that the deprivation of personal liberty of human rights defenders represents a matter of particular humanitarian and symbolic gravity, regardless of the internal political or legal contexts of the States concerned.
Through this Decree, the Confederation reaffirms the universal value of peace, non-violence, and freedom of expression, while maintaining international attention on the rights of those who, often at personal risk, work for the protection of fundamental human rights.
The Decree was formalized under Protocol No. ITA202512121754 and is published as an official institutional act of the Confederation of Humanitarian Nations.
